1st Day of Slice of Life 31 Day Writing Challenge

March 1, 2016

TwoWritingTeachers.wordpress.com have an annual writing challenge. Today I'm joining other "slicers" to share a slice of my life!  31 days of writing...it could be terrifying! It could be hard! It could be the best thing I've ever done for my writing self! So allow me to introduce myself with an original acrostic poem, "A First Time Slicer" by me!!

A First Time "Slicer"
by Beth Cook

A Twitter chat invite becomes...a 31 day writing challenge!

Freeing to be able to capture a "slice" of life
Inviting my peers and friends to walk beside me during this journey
Reconnecting with the writer, within
Scared- what if they don't like my writing
Taking a leap of faith!!

Trusting the process
Important for my students to see me as a writer
Modeling my failures and successes
Excited to see how my writing changes and grows!

So here I go
Looking at the opportunity before me
Including my students in the challenge
Could have thought this more through before I said yes. :)
Even though I'm nervous...
Ready for this challenge!

  2. Welcome to the challenge! You have captured what is important - trust the process, enjoy the learning and growth. A month will pass quickly. Happy Writing!

  3. If you stopped and thought too long, you might have passed up this opportunity to develop your writing muscles. You won't regret this one bit. This is life changing (at least it was for me). Trust the process and enjoy the journey.
BTW, your link does not connect to this space. I got here by clicking your name.

  4. Good job taking on the challenge. Keep it up! :)

  5. I can easily say this slice of life thing is the single best thing I have done for myself as a teacher of writing and thus as a writer myself! Welcome to the challenge and know that you are entering into one of the most supportive communities you could find! I look forward to reading more.

  6. It is hard! But so satisfying when you look back at what you will have written by the end of the challenge. Welcome, I loved your acrostic! And leap year is the perfect time to take the leap of faith. I know because I "leaped" in 2012 and it's been a wonderful journey.
